From humble beginnings in the military
ORIGINS
From humble beginnings in the military and derived from the French word lanière.
The word lanyard originates from the French word lanière which translates to strap. first used in the 15th century by soldiers and privateers to carry their weapons close whilst climbing walls and scaling rigging. Typically the lanière was made of cord or rope but as popularity grew, the lanyard became more of a statement and was made from chain and leather.
Move forward to the modern-day and we now use lanyards to hold keys, wallets and other valuables keeping them close by and safe whilst freeing up our hands to do other things.
Style Tip: A simple and natural alternative to our chain, the leather lanyard is functional and stylish keeping your valuables secure in your pocket.
